I had a fight with a friend who clearly pointed out the place he works in calls it a dessert whereas I believe its a drink. He asked "ohhh why does it have ice cream in it then?" I told him it would be a milkshake without it but I don’t think he believed me. My question is Is it a drink or a dessert?
It’s a beverage.
Like you said if it had icecream in it, then it’d be a milkshake. But I’ve never heard of coffee having icecream in it, unless it was coffee flavored icecream – then that’d be a dessert.
Hello. Can anyone recommend a nice place to go around 9 pm for coffee, good desserts in the NYC area? Thanks. A hotel maybe…?
Not exactly Chelsea and maybe more dessert than you want, but The View, a revolving restaurant atop the Marriot Marquis in Times Square, offers a dessert buffet. http://www.theviewnyc.com/
Try this website for additional dessert places. Just call to make sure they are opened after 9:00 PM.

I was planning to make a dessert today that involved whipped cream, but alas, I have no heavy cream. However, I was wondering if there was a way to use liquid (not powdered) coffee creamer (the kind from Coffee-mate; it’s coconut flavored so I would get coconut whipped cream) to make whipped cream.
No. You need real cream to make whipped cream. However, there is a way to make a "mock whipped cream" without cream. Its kinda like cool whip. Here are a couple of recipes:

I have limited food supplies. Here is what I DO have:
Blueberries
oatmeal
flour
oil
spices
sugar
mixed nuts
berry jam
cream
eggs
bread.
What dessert can I make with this? I have my father in law coming this evening and would like to sit down to dessert and coffee. I was thinking bread or rice pudding or some kind of pie or bar. I have no clue though. Please HELP! -thanks
You can try a blueberry crumble – the recipe calls for lemon juice but if you don’t have any it will probably work OK anyway. If you don’t have brown sugar for the topping you can use granulated.
BLUEBERRY CRUMBLE
4 c. blueberries
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 tsp. lemon juice
1/2 c. oatmeal
1/4 c. flour
1/4 c. butter or margarine
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
Wash berries and stir together in a bowl with granulated sugar and lemon juice. Pour into greased shallow baking dish or greased square 8×8 inch pan. In small bowl, combine rest of ingredients, mix with fork until mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle over berries. Bake at 375°F for 15 to 20 minutes until top browns and fruit is bubbly.
